Welcome to my blog. First of all, let me introduce myself.
My story is quite simple.
I studied at Faculty of Education in Trnava (Slovakia) and got Master’s degree as a Teacher of Mathematics and Chemistry. I have always loved Chemistry and I was very confident in Mathematics, so the choice of the University was pretty clear to me. After my studies I started to teach at public school in a nearby village. I enjoyed the teaching there, I had great pupils, but after few years I understood that if I would like to stand on my own feet, I have to find work in another sector.
And I found new job. Quite quickly.
I started to work as a Sales and Marketing Office Assistant at Bel Slovakia in Bratislava.
I was promoted to a Brand Manager after few years. I was working on marketing propagation of some very popular brands – such as The laughing cow or a local brand Karička.
I was working at Bel for nine years. I was working on new products launches, creating and designing new packaging, working on consumer competitions.
Of course I did not work alone. I had amazing colleagues, demanding bosses and (mostly) helpful agencies. Over the years, I could participate on marketing researches, I learned how to process market data, I created lots of presentations, I often traveled to production factory in Michalovce, to the Headquarters in Paris, or to meet with my Czech colleagues in Prague and Želetava.
It was a great time.
During this „marketing“ period, great changes happened in my personal life. I fell in love, got married and two little beautiful babyboys came to us. It was time to re-evaluate my priorities. I still had teaching in my heart and my mind.
And then, quite unexpectedly, I got an offer to teach at the Private Bilingual English / Slovak Primary and Secondary School BESST in Trnava. And since August 2014, I’ve been helping to understand Mathematics and Chemistry to fantastic pupils at this exceptional school.
I have learned a lot of things here. I have always been teaching „differently“, preparing lots of materials, games, visual tools with and letting the pupils to dicover everything by themeselves. I have had a great space for self-realization at this school.
I do not know when and where exactly a flame of desire for new and interesting things have arisen inside me but at BESST a fire started to burn with a huge flame. I had the opportunity to implement iPads into the educational process, I was present when Hejný method was established in mathematics lessons and I know that I have many other interesting challenges ahead of me.
Experiential and active learning, technology in education, discovering and exploration by pupils … this is my way how to educate my pupils and children and how to lead my team of great teachers …
